At Sweat Cattle, ranching isn’t just what we do—it’s who we are. Our family’s legacy of hard work, integrity, and respect for the land and animals goes back six generations, beginning with John Sweat and George Hyrum Sweat in the 1800s.
George Hyrum Sweat was born in 1826 in the northwest part of Maine near the New Hampshire border. He was the eighth of twelve children born to John and Polly Sweat. Growing up, he learned the values of farming and hard work, alongside his brothers who were taught to farm and make maple sugar. In 1860, George Hyrum, his family and children moved west to Heber City, Utah. Here, they cleared land, built homes, and dedicated themselves to farming, laying the foundation for the generations of ranchers who would follow.

For over six generations, our family has been refining the art of raising beef cattle, producing the best beef possible. Built by our ancestors, Sweat Cattle continues to honor that legacy, working the land with the same dedication and commitment to excellence. We take pride in raising high-quality cattle for our family and community, ensuring that every animal is born, raised, and finished right here on our ranch.
For generations, we’ve believed in doing things the right way—no shortcuts, no middlemen, just real ranching. Not only are we raising beef - but we are helping them too and recently added our first vet to the family - Alexis Sweat - a family member here to help raise and support our cattle no matter the difficulty. Our commitment to excellence runs deep, and we are proud to carry forward the traditions and values that have defined our family for over 160 years.
